Construction Update: The Foundations of Utopia are Taking Shape!

Spring is in the air, and work is progressing well at the Utopia construction site in Uccle! Here’s a look at the progress.

Laying the groundwork

In recent weeks, the team from contractor E. Rombaut has made all the preparations for the foundations. The sewage systems have been installed, the elevator shafts have been excavated, and the heavy-duty reinforcement is in place.

At this very moment, the foundation of Utopia is literally being poured!

A sustainable heart underground

What you can’t see immediately, but is essential for the sustainability of Utopia, is the BEO field. The contractor has now successfully completed the installation of this Borehole Energy Storage system. This smart network will use geothermal energy to heat and cool the buildings in an ecological way. An investment in the future, that has already been realized!

What does the near future hold?

After the floor slabs are poured, the next visible step will begin. From mid-April, the contractor will start constructing the basement levels by placing the first concrete walls. From that moment on, Utopia will also start to grow in height
